Ale Piling have recently invested in a 21 ton wheeled excavator which can handle a variety of equipment including our side grip hammers, augers and drop hammers.

This has proved very useful recently on a scheme in County Durham to install a range of sheet piles to form several cofferdams, where the development of a new hydroelectric scheme was proving very difficult to access using normal sheet piling equipment.

With weigh and width restrictions on the narrow country lanes approaching the job, the use of conventional tracked rigs would have required a two-mile track and laying out of protection to prevent damage to the road surface along the whole of this route. This would obviously been a timely operation!

Ale Piling were able to drive to the site, carry out the work and drive away again without disturbing anyone, apart from a few sheep grazing on the surrounding hills.
