Installation and Extraction

The accessibility, power and versatility of our Side Grip Piling Rigs mean that we can install and remove sheet piles from almost anywhere.

Standard Installation and Extractions
In a straight line or on a radius, it’s not a problem for us. Our side grip piling rigs with their no manual handling abilities and computer controlled pitching can perform installations and extractions at high productivity rates.

Install or Extract What You Want
Drive or Extract Sheet Piles or Trench Sheets
Drive or Extract H-beam Collision Piles, Support Piles, Retaining Wall Piles
Drive or Extract Small Diameter Tubular Piles
Drive or Extract Timber Piles

Working Over Water, Along River Banks or Across Unstable Ground
With the ability to drive and extract piles under full control and grip, without guides or gates, our largest side grip piling rig can precisely install sheets at distances of up to 9m from the track of the base rig.

Piling on top or at the Bottom of Embankments
The same outreach properties as when piling over water and a reach of 5m plus or below the tracks of the base rig, piling on or down embankments is not a problem.

Restricted Headroom Working Underneath Tunnels, Bridges, Power Lines
Unique Side Grip working allows work to be carried out in places no other piling rig can work and the addition of Cab Mounted Height Limiters fitted to our rigs prevents any accidental collision with structures above.

Marine Work and Working Off Water
Our own road transportable work barge makes the perfect combination for our Side Grip Piling Rigs. When working from water, our rigs perform exceptionally and in most instances piling gates or guides are not needed.

Working off a Slope or Working from a Hillside
Unlike other piling techniques it is possible to install piles with the rig positioned on a slope or steep gradient.

Raker Piles and Horizontal Piling
If Raker Piles need to be installed on site, this is no problem to our Side Grip Piling Rigs, just a few adjustments to the computer by the operator and the pile will be driven in at the required angle. Arch forming piles horizontally or piles driven flat horizontally to form support through embankments or slopes are no problem for us to install.

Pre Auguring
When ground conditions do not permit straight forward installation of sheet piles using our Side Grip Piling rigs, an option is to pre-auger the line of the proposed sheet piles. This allows the soil in the installation line to be loosened allowing driving. The loosened soil is then reconsolidated when the sheet piles are driven. Our pre-auger unit can easily be fitted to any of our rigs and with the aid of a telescopic head can penetrate to depths of 12m.

Conventional Installation and Extraction
Although ALE Piling’s preferred operating method is using our Side Grip Piling Rigs, we also carry out installation and extraction using crane suspended hammers, leader rigs and vibrationless installation techniques.
